It's not virus, it's a browser plugin!!
One of the most effective techniques internet scammers use is social engineering, after all many times is easier to bypass the human technical controls than the technical ones. A popular form of attacks we have noticed for the past few months is the execution of a browser plugin that tricks users to believe their system have been compromised. After "hijacking" the user's browser session a supposed technical support number is provided for a company to remotely connect to your computer and help you diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately this type of scam is way too common and many people fall pray to it, no wonder it's still widely used. In the following video I show you how to disable the browser's extension to get rid of the issue. Most of the time disabling or removing the plugin will fix the problem but in some extreme cases the add-on entries need to be removed from the registry .
